XetaWave XETA4B-22MMDFB 450-470 MHz UHF Ethernet Radio
The XetaWave XETA4B-22MMDFB is a premium industrial software-defined radio engineered for licensed 450-470 MHz UHF MAS networks, where protected spectrum, long-range reliability and deterministic performance are essential. Housed in a rugged metal enclosure and built on an open Debian Linux platform, it represents XetaWave’s latest generation of industrial radio technology and uses the patented Dual Decode Digital Architecture to deliver significantly improved receiver performance in congested and noisy RF environments.
For organisations operating licensed UHF telemetry networks, the XETA4B-22MMDFB provides a modern, fully supported migration path away from ageing narrowband radio fleets. It protects existing licensed spectrum investment while adding contemporary IP networking, embedded Linux computing, AES encryption and comprehensive remote diagnostics, making it well suited to retrofit, replacement, expansion and network modernisation projects across water, utilities, energy and resources.

Licensed Spectrum for Mission-Critical Networks
Operating in licensed UHF spectrum gives network owners protected channels, predictable latency and resilience against congestion — a decisive advantage for critical infrastructure where unlicensed bands are becoming increasingly crowded. Narrowband channel plans from 6.25 kHz through to 50 kHz are supported, allowing operators to maximise the value of existing licence holdings while lifting network throughput well beyond what legacy narrowband equipment can deliver.
Dual Ethernet and dual serial interfaces allow legacy serial RTUs and modern IP-based equipment to operate across the same network, which is critical during phased upgrades where sites are migrated progressively rather than all at once.
An Edge Computing Platform, Not Just a Radio
The open Debian Linux environment turns the XETA4B-22MMDFB into a capable industrial edge computer. Third-party and custom applications can be hosted directly on the radio, enabling protocol conversion, local data processing, alarm logic, data buffering and integration with existing SCADA and historian platforms — reducing the need for additional field hardware at each site.
Ideal Applications
- Water and wastewater SCADA networks
- Pump station and reservoir telemetry
- Electricity utility and substation monitoring
- Pipeline, oil and gas remote monitoring
- Mining site communications
- Irrigation and agricultural water management
- Renewable energy and battery storage monitoring
- Environmental and flood monitoring
- Industrial automation and process control
- Hazardous area installations requiring Class 1 Division 2 certification
Designed for Network Modernisation
Many licensed UHF telemetry networks across Australia are still running on radio platforms approaching or past end of support, leaving operators exposed on spares, security and serviceability. Backward compatibility with legacy MAS master radios means the XETA4B-22MMDFB can be introduced into an existing network incrementally, allowing utilities and industrial operators to modernise site by site while maintaining continuous operation.
Whether expanding an existing licensed network, replacing obsolete narrowband radios, or building a new UHF telemetry system from the ground up, the XETA4B-22MMDFB delivers the performance, durability and long-term supportability required for long-life critical infrastructure.
