The XetaWave XETATS-22NPDNA Industrial Terminal Server is a rugged serial-to-Ethernet converter and Modbus gateway built for SCADA, telemetry, remote monitoring and industrial automation networks. It connects existing serial field devices to modern Ethernet and IP-based systems, allowing operators to extend the working life of proven instrumentation while moving toward a modern network architecture.
Why engineers choose this platform
Many industrial sites still rely on serial RTUs, PLCs, flow computers, meters and field instruments that were never designed for Ethernet networks. Replacing that equipment outright is expensive and disruptive. The XETATS-22NPDNA provides a practical middle path: legacy serial devices stay in service while data is delivered over Ethernet to SCADA hosts, historians and control systems.

Terminal server functionality
The XetaTS supports TCP server, TCP client and UDP server modes, enabling serial tunnelling, virtual COM port operation and multiple unicast connections. Up to five simultaneous connections to a TCP or UDP server are supported, allowing several host systems to access the same field data.
Modbus bridging
Integrated Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP translation allows serial Modbus devices to be polled directly by Ethernet-based SCADA systems, removing the need for separate protocol converters.
Data Concentrator
XetaWave’s Data Concentrator is included at no additional cost. It converges data from multiple Modbus services into a single unified Modbus map, or publishes via MQTT / Sparkplug B for report-by-exception operation.
In practice, the Data Concentrator:
- Offloads polling from RTUs, PLCs and flow computers
- Substantially reduces bandwidth consumption on constrained or licensed links
- Standardises sensors from multiple vendors into a single Modbus map
- Returns only required data rather than entire device maps

Wire Replacement
The no-cost Wire Replacement module replicates input and output signals across Ethernet, serial or external wireless links — useful where running new cable is impractical or cost-prohibitive.
Built for industrial environments
Running open-source Debian Linux on a 300 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 256 MB RAM and 4 GB flash, the platform supports custom applications, scripting and long-term protocol flexibility rather than locking users into fixed firmware.
The unit is UL Class 1 Division 2 certified for hazardous locations and operates from −40 °C to +85 °C, making it suitable for unconditioned cabinets, remote well pads, pump stations and outdoor enclosures.
